October 7-8, 2000 – The new 21,000-seat Conference Center, across the street north of Temple Square, was dedicated during general conference by President Hinckley.

October 7, 2005 – The First Presidency broke ground for a five-story state-of-the-art “Church History Library” at a site across the street east of the Conference Center in Salt Lake City.
